Hey folx,

We’re back with some exciting news. Hold on to your hats!

Everjoy and A Starborn Resistance are now available digitally over on the SoulMuppet store! Print versions coming soon.

We also just launched Afterburn, our Orbital Blues expansion featuring a catalog of spaceships, advice on space travel, a whole new core adventure and some secrets not yet revealed. You can check it out right here!

A Starborn Resistance

Written by Sinta Posadas and illustrated by Orbital Blues co-creator Josh Clark.

A Starborn Resistance is a collection of NPCs, character creation tools and adventures hooks that create a hub-world for your Interstellar Outlaws to visit between adventures. The Varis X-0 Project has failed. The Scintilla Station, the old jewel of the Wings of Valor Confederacy, is all that remains of this abandoned colony. All stars lose their shine. The Central Commune now runs the station, and it is a place for Interstellar Outlaws together away from the corperate held stations, and a steady source of work.

Everjoy

Written by Momatoes and illustrated by Orbital Blues co-creator Josh Clark.

Beyond the orbit of the conflict-wracked Melange-223, the Everjoy Amusement Park and Rides stands forlorn and nearly forgotten. With infrastructure long destroyed and no way in or out, it has managed to complete three lonely orbits alone and uninhabited.

Remedia Alala thinks otherwise. “Giles Ektro still lives,” she insists. “And we must find him.” She's not alone in her sentiments… for the reclusive genius, once the master engineer of the park, is pursued by none other than the hegemonic Futura Trust.

But between now and Everjoy lie desperate rebels, time-maddened robots, and even stranger children, all bound to the pain of memory and the pursuit of imagined happiness.

There’s no admission fee to enter the park…but can our Outlaws get out alive?

How to get it!

Go to the SoulMuppet Store and look at the dozens and dozens of beautiful and fun roleplaying games.

Afterburn

If you enjoy Orbital Blues, you should know about Afterburn! This is a new wave of books and products for Orbital Blues, the space western RPG by SoulMuppet Publishing.

We come to you with a hardcover expansion, a VHS box set full of pamphlet adventures, a slipcase compendium of previous Orbital Blues releases, and much more. You can also grab reprints of the core book and cassette (along with a fancy exclusive cover)

The Red-Shift Riders: a sandbox adventure  setting in the Tennessee Five, a richly storied system made up of the  planets of Anchorage IV, Ediston, Gallatin, Ohrid and Rothcoe. It is a  sprawling locale with each planet being filled with diverse locations  and biomes for Crews to explore. This huge sandbox contains all manner  of heists and opportunities for enterprising Outlaws to make their mark,  and introduces the much-requested option of Android Player Characters,  complete with a unique selection of Gambits, Troubles and Roleplaying  notes for them should you wish to include them in your games.

The Spaceship Handbook: A  fully-illustrated in-world spaceship brochure featuring a dozen classes  of characterful spaceships, complete with adverts and flavour text. You  might use this to generate a Crew Ship for your party of Interstellar Outlaws, or to add depth to your Orbital Blues world by detailing the various types of spaceship you might encounter in the Outlaw Galaxy.

The Storyteller’s Guide: Now the game has been out for 2 years, we've compiled tons of helpful tips, tricks and advice on running games of Orbital Blues from the creators themselves. This includes different methods of space  travel and how to use them, manifests of useful crew equipment that will  turn any aspiring cowboy into a Chief Engineer, and random tables for  generating content at rapid pace.

Stay tuned for an update in a couple of week, when we'll be able to give print access to the final two adventures!

Thanks

Zach

Stretch Goal Physicals Release + AFTERBURN
9 months ago – Tue, Aug 15, 2023 at 08:58:03 AM

Hey folx,

We’re back with some exciting news. Hold on to your hats!

Chega de Saudade and Rock of Tariq are now available in print over on the SoulMuppet store!

We are also gearing up for Afterburn, our Orbital Blues expansion featuring a catalog of spaceships, advice on space travel, a whole new core adventure and some secrets not yet revealed. Its coming to Kickstarter in October, and you can sign up now

More on that below…

Chega de Saudade

Written by Giuliano Roverato and illustrated by Orbital Blues co-creator Josh Clark.

"I want to see the golden shores of my old home, feel its warm sands on my feet, hear the bittersweet melodies, the ones sang to me in bedtime stories by sobbing workers. Day and night the people of Tradis station toil away, forced to clean the planet-side wasteland that the corp calls  the “future of living.”

We are tired, angry and dying. We have nostalgia for a home that is unknown to us. This is not a strike. This is a call for help. Bring us  home, outlaws. Chega de Saudade."

Chega de Saudade presents an adventure that explores themes of home, nostalgia, place and being. Your Interstellar Outlaws will visit Tradis station and discover the meaning of Saudade, know the plight of its workers, and be tempted by corporate money beyond their wildest dreams. Here, you can’t save everyone.

Trouble of the Rock at Tariq

Written by Basheer Ghouse and illustrated by Orbital Blues co-creator Josh Clark.

The adventure starts as the characters take a suspiciously lucrative delivery job, ferrying mysterious cargo to the Rock on behalf of its ruler, before everything goes horribly horribly wrong. Your characters are trapped on a foreign space station, trying to survive shifting politics long enough to get paid, discharge their cargo, and get the hell out of dodge.

Trouble at the Rock of Tariq is an adventure based around a succession crisis and an incredibly valuable terraformation satellite in the possession of your player crew. Along the way they may, purposefully or not, direct the future of the Rock of Tariq.

Other Updates: Starborn Resistance and Everjoy

The manuscripts and art are done! They’re both in layout. Starborn Resistance has had its first draft, and I’m giving feedback this week. Everjoy is coming along strong.

The space station theme park, EVERJOY
Two pieces from Starborn Resistance

We expect both of these to be in print by the time we get to Afterburn. More on that in a minute…

Afterburn

Afterburn. The Afterburn.  It’s a colloquialism that fills the gap for a lot of feelings. It’s the white-hot glow on the hull of a racer after hurtling through an asteroid belt, flying just below warp.

The Exador XI, one of the spaceships details in our new spaceship catalogue.

We want to expand the Orbital Blues universe from a single book with a couple of adventures into a fully supported system with everything you need for years of adventuring the Outlaw Galaxy. We’re aiming to bring it to Kickstarter later this year and it will feature:

  • An in-world spaceship brochure featuring dozens of classes of fictional spaceships.
  • The biggest adventure yet for Orbital Blues. A sandbox setting in a fully detailed solar system where spaceships are raced and manufactured.
  • Narrative guidance for different types of space travel, and more tips on how to run your game of Orbital Blues.

Plus we’ve got a load of ideas if this goes well, from merch to extra content! So follow along to be updated when we go live.

A Van Keer gate, one of the methods of faster than light travel introduced in the book.

The original creative team: Sleney, Clark and Cox, are all back again, as well as an exciting and excited team of new creators willing to cut their teeth on new Orbital Blues books.

So pick up a packet of cigerarttes from the nearest space station, fuel up your jumpboat, slam your cassette into the audio console, and make ready for the Afterburn

See You, Space Cowboys!

Hey folx,

We're back with another softcover adventure from the stretch goals in digital form.

Inevitable

Our project Inevitable is in its final 48 hours. It's also a game about Sad Cowboys, but this time they're Arthurian. We made some silly dice that are also brass bullets. We're smashing out stretch goals. It's such a good time to be a SoulMuppet enjoyer!

These ones are made of resin and gemstone
These ones are 60 calibre brass bullets for killing dragons. It's silly and very cool

Thanks so much! We'll be back soon with more Sad Cowboy Roleplaying games, info on the print release of Chega de Saudade and Trouble at the Rock of Tariq, and updates on Everjoy and Starborn Resistance, both of which have finished editing and are entering layout.

There's Trouble at the Rock of Tariq and More Sad Cowboys
about 1 year ago – Mon, Apr 17, 2023 at 09:44:28 AM

Hey folx,

Long time no see!

We've got some Orbital Blues for you.

Trouble of the Rock at Tariq

Go to the SoulMuppet Store and look at the dozens and dozens of beautiful and fun roleplaying games.

All backers of Orbital Blues can pick up the PDF of Trouble at the Rock of Tariq for FREE from our online store by using the code InALotOfTrouble at checkout. We'll be doing print copies soon,

Either code will be added in a little box just before you're ready to pay, so you'll start checkout.

When you check out, you'll also get a code to download it on DriveThruRPG and Itch.

If you missed it last time, you can use the code ATGPDF to grab All That Glitters too!

Thanks to the work of Josh Clark, Basheer Ghouse., Sam Sleney and Tabletop Hoard, this one is looking real god damn nice!

Virginia (of Tabletop Hoard) is going to be moving onto Everjoy as soon as she's available. As well, we're not far now from Chega de Saudade being completed! There's more Orbital Blues coming to you very very soon.

Inevitable

In other sad cowboy news, I wrote a new game, INEVITABLE

Inevitable replaced your sad 'space cowboys' with sad arthurian one, and features a group of devastatingly depressed knights and wizards failing to save their civilisation from a foretold apocalypse.

Bad news, you're going to lose. The game is full of wizards with cowboy hats, duels with angsty bandits and knights fighting dragons with a Colt 1851 that shoots lightning.

We're live on Kickstarter now and have already funded, with the first few stretch goals locked down.

Cowboys with magic handguns having gunfights? What isn't to love??

It features amazing illustrations from Klur_Art, and the layout talents of Lone Archivist, who is returning from Orbital Blues. Orbital Blues co-creator and illustrator Joshua Clark has even pitched in with an alt cover you can pledge for. It's even cowboy themed.

We'll see you soon with more updates from those pesky and long awaited stretch goal books!

Thanks

Zach
